Flamingo Wash:

The Era of Electromagnetic Radiation in Small Las Vegas

Memoir by Anthony Bondi

Throughout the history of Las Vegas, personal stories of its local residents have remained hidden behind the glitz and grandeur of the Strip and iconic history, yet remain invisibly woven into the essence and simmering subculture of our city. Flamingo Wash: The Era of Electromagnetic Radiation in Small Las Vegas sheds light on an untold story by Anthony Bondi. This memoir captures the spirit of the local culture and counterculture of Las Vegas from the 50s to the turn of the millennium. Through his personal and archival lens, Bondi’s coming of age in Las Vegas is woven together with the growth of the city through the historic moments of atomic fever, the explosive shift as an entertainment destination, arts and culture, and urban development. Through unexpected, touching, and comical stories never before told, (like Bondi’s experience living in an apartment complex famed for its nudist tenants) we get to know the people behind the glamorous veneer of Las Vegas.
